Wild Hare R/C is proud to announce the newest addition to our line of 50-70cc airplanes, the 29% Ultimate biplane. Patterned after the original Ultimate 10-300 designed by Gordon price, this plane is designed for the intermediate ARF builder and for the intermediate to expert R/C pilot.
The Ultimate is intended to provide excellent aerobatic and 3D flight performance with economical 50cc class gasoline engines. It was flight tested with a Desert Aircraft DA-50R, but it’s designed with enough room to accept engines up to 75cc. The production plane with the DA-50 weighs just over 17 lb. Plenty of wing area means that this is a biplane that is easy to fly and land, no bad habits. Video is now available!

This Ultimate model is designed to be simple to assemble and disassemble at the field. The wing struts are attached by 4-40 socket head screws into blind nuts, the wings attach to the cabanes with 2 4-40 screws and nuts, and the lower wing attaches with two screws. The wings are one piece, so no spar is required nor are flying wires on the wings needed. Installation of the wings typically takes no more than 5 minutes.
The size of this plane also means it will fit into most pickup trucks and full size vans without disassembly which makes the plane extremely convenient.
The Ultimate is happy with pretty much any good 50cc range engine such as a DA-50, BME-50, Brison 3.2, etc. The generous wing area allows heavier engines too such as G62, 3w 60, Fuji 64, etc. The plane is designed for maximum flexibility. It is set up to balance with a DA-50 with pull-pull rudder or with a G62 with all servos in the tail.
Though this is a high performance aircraft this plane is gentle to fly and land. It has very stable flight characteristics, and it lands as gracefully as it flies. Like any bipe the extra drag requires a little power on landing but other than that it’s like any of our other planes.
As with other Wild Hare ARFs, this plane is 95% complete when you get it. The wings are built-up and covered in Ultracote, all the wood is laser cut, and attention to little details like tank mounting and landing gear attachment make the plane very easy to assemble. It’s designed to be light, but not at the expense of strength for the everyday pilot. Aircraft ply and epoxy firewall and gear mounts. Tab/slot construction, all this says the plane is not just for the pro’s. It’s covered in Ultracoat/Oracover and is easily repaired. The pre-mounted cowl makes setting up the engine a snap.
This is the perfect 2nd plane for the gasoline engine user. And for those of you with a G62, here's another Wild Hare plane that will give your engine a happy home.
The new Ultimate is supplied with painted landing gear and a very nice tailwheel assembly and Robart style pin hinges. No other hardware is supplied with the kit since many people have their own ideas about hardware. Wild Hare does have available a hardware accessory pack that includes everything you will need to assemble the plane except glue, spinner, engine, and electronics. The glue is necessary to install the large Robart hinge points.
Features: Built-up wings join to be one piece, single aileron servo per aileron. 6061T6 3/16” Aluminum gear. Fiberglass cowl and wheel pants, painted in urethane enamel. Cowl is pre-mounted, engine thrust angle is built in. Engine and gear mounts are aircraft ply and assembled with epoxy. Hardpoints in ailerons, elevators, and rudder for control horns. Covered with Ultracoat/Oracover. Available in color schemes shown. Wood parts are laser cut for accurate assembly. Robart type hinge holes pre-drilled. Tank mount and radio tray pre-installed. Radio is accessed through the fuse bottom with lower wing removed and there is generous open work room. Easy field assembly/teardown.
