Wild Hare waited and studied the 50CC market before bringing out a competitor in the full size 50cc market for a round cowl plane. I think the wait was worth it. And this one is actually round, not made from a box with rounded corners and a cowl with pinched in edges. It's a truly beautiful plane that looks just like the real Sukhoi SU-26. The simple but striking red/white/black color scheme is an ideal platform for graphics as shown in the photos, this graphics package reproduces the Honda sponsored SU-26. For your club, business, or air show team it's an ideal "canvas" for your creativity. Wild Hare's new Sukhoi SU-26 is likely to become the standard by which other aerobats in this class are measured. The combination of good looks, competitive price, quality construction, numerous design features and exceptional flying will quickly put some distance between Wild Hare and our nearest competitor.

When we designed our new Sukhoi SU-26, we made the wingspan 87" with a scale planform for plenty of wing area. Weight is between 16 and 17 pounds depending on choice of equipment. This assumes that you will use an engine with a reasonable weight such as the DA-50, 3mm-53, Brison 3.2, etc. If you choose a heavier engine then expect a heavier airplane.

Exhaust options are sometimes limited with a round cowl plane, the lower engine location and round cowl make it like fitting a square peg in a round hole, almost literally. This Sukhoi is equipped with a recessed fiberglass belly pan which provides a place to mount a canister muffler externally, the DA-50's exhaust header then stays completely inside the cowl.. Quiet and high performance are available without any heat from the muffler getting inside the fuselage. Wild Hare offers a complete canister kit for the DA-50 which includes everything you need plus instructions on how to mount the muffler for a quiet reliable setup that is welcome anywhere.

For those of you who prefer an in cowl muffler installation the 3mm-53 engine's included muffler fits completely (except for the outlet pipe) inside the cowl. The same is true of the custom Bisson side mount muffler that we are offering for the DA-50. Gone are the days of hacking your beautiful cowl to pieces to get a muffler to fit. In fact normally the only opening required in the cowl is for the spark plug/cap.

The Sukhoi is a beautifully built airplane with built-up removable wings and stabs. The fuse sides are balsa, wings and tail feathers are built-up. The hatch opens up from the rear of the canopy all the way to the back of the fiberglass cowling. Tall aluminum landing gear makes lots of clearance for large props. The landing gear is two piece, designed to provide plenty of clearance for the fiberglass belly pan/canister tunnel. It is attached to the plane through two aluminum angle brackets which tie everything together nicely.

The ARF kit includes landing gear, tinted canopy, single-wire style tailwheel assembly, large pin (Robart style) hinges with hinge holes pre-drilled. Wings are retained by a bolt through the fuse side into the wing, stabs are retained by a screw through two tabs on the underside into the fuse side. We sell a hardware kit for $75 which has everything else that you will need minus the engine, muffler, prop, spinner and electronics. The basic airplane includes the various fasteners and fixtures to assemble the plane and retain the wings, landing gear, tail surfaces tailwheel,, etc. There is an optional hardware package available for $75 and the Honda graphics set is $50.
