At Wild Hare Hobbies we have recognized the need for model aircraft that are less expensive to build and fly. Therefore we are happy to announce availability of this fine aircraft in the quarter-scale size, the YAK 55SP. While many vendors sell a Yak, there are very few of the Yak 55SP (single place canopy) in this 30cc size. It's a really fine flying plane which excels at IMAC type flying but also makes a great 3D plane or just a gentle Sunday flyer.

The new 30cc size Yak is totally new design from a new  (for Wild Hare) buider. These new planes feature rugged design, light weight and excellent performance. They are designed to be as light as is possible while maintaining a strong airframe that can survive for years without losing its structural integrity, Flying weight is 10-11 pounds with a DLE-30 gas engine making these some of the lightest planes in their class. While the main structure is build light, it's not too light for a gas engine which means 15 minute flights on 20 cents worth of pump gasoline.

Reducing the weight also makes these planes completely viable for economical electric power, and will make them radical performers with glow or gas engines of really modest cost. A new DLE-30 is more than enough power for rocketing pullout from a hover, and great 3d performance.

These planes feature built-up wings and all wood fuselage construction. They have carbon fiber wing and stab tubes (removable wings) and aluminum landing gear. plus an aircraft ply firewall. The cowl mounts via an integral cowl ring so no fasteners are visible. Control horns are composite glue-in type, they are strong and trouble free. They Yak features a one piece finished hatch/canopy assembly..

They still retain the features of larger planes with removable wings and stabs mounted on carbon-fiber tubes. The planes are beautifully finished and covered in Ultracote, and also have painted fiberglass wheel "spats". They are packaged in a single box with complete hardware to keep shipping costs low. Planes are in stock now!
