July 2 2009 Update
It has been a few months since I posted an update here, a lot has happened since April. We ae expecting a new shipment mid-September time frame, though that is subject to adjustment.
This container will have our new 88" 50cc Giles G202. This is a super nice stable airplane, fully 3D capable. It's only 5" smaller wing span than our original 35% Giles but is 8-9 lbs. lighter and flies great on a 50cc engine. It will also be available in an MX-2 variant which involves a change of wings.
We will also be getting more of the 88" Edge 540's plus a Slick 540 variant, again it's the same plane but with different wings.
Finally we will be getting our new 56" electric Edge which is very exciting, it's a really elegant electric plane that's built like the big ones. It's very flexible, inexpensive and quick to build.
I remind you Wild Hare is a factory authorzed dealer for DL engines. The DLE-55 and DLE-111 engines are now in stock. We will match the price of any authorized dealers and we offer free shipping on these engines. What's more we can offer great package deals with an airplane and/or radio system.
Stock status for airplanes is as follows;
We have a good supply of the new 88" Edge 540 and, the new 87" Extra 260s. However the Edges are moving quite briskly and I do expect to run out of them before replacements arrive.
The 102" Edge is an all new plane intended for the low cost light weight 100cc class. It is priced aggressively and packaged with lower cost engines. It uses a single servo per wing for ailerons to keep the cost down.
Of course we have the Giles Giles G202. I believe that the 100cc class planes, combined with the new DA-85 TMM-106 or the DL-111, provides an excellent growth path for those people wanting to make the "next step" from 50cc. These planes are reasonably economical and fly beautifully. The Giles are in stock.
The 100cc market is benefiting from new lower cost engines. Tthe new TMM-106 and DLE-111 are both in the $700 price range. The TMM-106, like the TOC-53, it is the smoothest engine in its class and is available soon for $699 including mufflers. Canister headers are available in different drops as well. The DLE is the most powerful engine available and is a killer deal it its low price.
We have a new canister muffler now available that works very well and is much less expensive that the ones that were imported from Germany. A complete canister kit for a 50cc single (DA, 3mm, DL, etc.) is now $165, down almost $100. The same kit for a twin is now $265. I've been running this muffler on my personal planes and it runs great, it's light weight and it comes with a 1 year warranty. The muffler alone sells for $65.
We
have good stock now on props in the most popular
sizes, especially 22-8 and 23-8 which are the props of
choice for 50cc engines. The props are identical
to a Bolly or Xoar wood props, very stiff,
CNC cut from solid beech wood and finished
in a high gloss. I have popular sizes in stock now, prices are similar
to Menz as well. I have a few in each size
and a lot of them in what I think are popular
sizes.
We also have received a quantity of a new style prop with a different blade shape and a graduated pitch, we are calling them the "GP" style.. They are very quiet (comparitively) and seem to do a nice job. I have 23-8, and 26-10 sizes. The 23-8GP is excellent on any 50cc engine like the TOC-53, and the 26-10GP is good on a DA-85 or DZY-100.
The
TOC-53cc single cylinder engine
has proven to be a reliable workhorse that performs beyond anyone's expectations. We have the standard version in stock
for $399, or the deluxe version which includes
an arm for using a servo on the choke is $429. Our popular Hop Up kits are available again, and we have a new optional larger carb that can be used to add about 100 more rpm. The deluxe engine with hop-up kit installed is $449, or you can buy the kit separately for $69. Add $30 to use the larger Walbro carb. We have canister headers for the TOC-53 as well. This is a 25mm stainless steel header with a flex section similar to what we sell for the DA-50.
I have done a lot of research on batteries for powering the radio and servos in your plane. A (no longer new) battery technology called A123, also known as "Lithium nano phosphate" is now available and produces superior results with lower cost, lighter weight and simpler more reliable installation. Wild Hare is now carrying these A123 packs along with the Smart-Fly Super Switch dual-output switches to supply maximum current with mimimum voltage drops into standard receivers. Please see the accessory section for a detailed explanation. We have a starter kit for the A123 technology power, again see the "Specials" section. We've sold many of these packs and everyone has been extremely pleased. I know of nobody who has tried A123 cells and then gone back to some other battery chemistry. |
